Folk tales around OISHI
Oshiageiwa Rock
Located alongside a hiking course of Mt. OISHI, Oshiageiwa Rock is in Umemoto district. You will see a hollow shaped like human's both hands. A folk tale says, in an ancient day, Saint Kukai (see the above article) helped residents troubled with a big rock which closed the street by pushing up the rock. They say the hollow is a mark of his super power. Do not laugh at them. Kukai is believed to be a Superman in many Japanese folk tales.
