A day of OISHI Highland
OISHI Highland is a wide sloped grassland on the top of mt. OISHI (870m above sea level) located in the northern area of WAKAYAMA Prefecture, Japan. In autumn, you can enjoy great scenery of wide spread silver grass in this place.
Tens thousands of people from all over Kansai (western part of Japan) area come and see the panoramic view from this mountain in a year. People may call OISHI Highland as "Karuizawa (Japanese most prestigious summer resort) in Kansai".
On the top of Mt.OISHI (870m above sea level), you can see the sunrise from the sea of clouds.
Watching the sun that change the clouds to red and bravery rise, you will imagine the ancient god of Japanese Shintoism in which the "god of Sun" is believed to be the supreme god in eight million gods in this world.
The most beautiful season of OISHI is autumn (from late August to late October) when you can enjoy the great scenery of wide spread silver grass. Though White cotton-like ear of silver grass is cute, I like silver young ear of the grass shining by the early autumn sunlight more.
From the top of Mt.OISHI, you will see Nokami Town just below, Wakayama City in front of you, and Osaka bay area over the Kisen mountains. When the condition allows, you could see the city of Kobe, and Rokko Mountains. If you have a binoculars, you may see the Akashi channel bridge (to be the biggest bridge in Japan) which is now under construction.
Do not ask me why they built this gym on the top of mountain.(HA HA)
Nokami town office set this jungle gym on the highland with willing kids can play at ease in the nature.
There are some supposed ways to use this gym, but kids plays in the ways they want to use. Of cause, adults can use this gym. However, can you use this?
The sky over the Mt. OISHI is wide and blue.
When the sky rapidly changes its colour to red, when the birds begin flying to their nests, the Highland melts in a dark night.
